BOSS Chris Hughton says record buy Shane Duffy has been “great value” for Albion.
The Seagulls shattered their transfer record in August by signing central defender Duffy, 24, from Blackburn Rovers for an up-front fee of around £3.5 million.
The Republic of Ireland international’s partnership with Lewis Dunk, 25, has been a key factor in Albion staying in the top two since late October.
Hughton told The Argus: “Shane and Dunky, for their ages, are experienced at this level. We knew that about Shane.
“He is a traditional type centre-half that enjoys the competitive side of the game and enjoys heading the ball.
“He’s been great value for us so far.
“He is wholehearted, but he has been very reliable for us as regards the amount of games he has played and the contribution he has given us.
“I’ve been really delighted with him from day one.”
Dunk makes the 150th league start of his Albion career against Reading at the Amex tomorrow.
