ALBION’S European scout Jamie Johnson is leaving the club for Championship rivals Rotherham United.
Johnson was expecting to link up again with Kenny Jackett after working for the ex-Wolves boss at Millwall.
Jackett parted company with Rotherham, days after Johnson’s switch to South Yorkshire from the Seagulls was agreed.
The son of renowned former Liverpool, Spurs, QPR and Newcastle scout Mel Johnson is currently serving out his notice period.
He will be replaced at Albion by former Norwich, Cambridge United, Charlton and Peterborough central defender Phil Chapple.
The 50-year-old was chief scout at Charlton from January 2007 to October 2015 before moving to Fulham as senior scout.
Meanwhile, the Seagull will have a club record 23,000 plus season ticket holders in the New Year after selling more than 500 seats for the second half of the season.
Club chief executive Paul Barber said: “Our core fan base is strong and still growing – a key long-term aim of the club.”
Albion host Derby County in the third round of the FA Youth Cup at the Amex tonight (7pm).
