Chris Hughton enjoyed a “convincing” third league win on the bounce for Albion – but felt they could have scored more.
Glenn Murray netted at the double in a 2-0 home success against Barnsley.
The result sees the Seagulls leapfrog their opponents and move into third spot pending Newcastle’s result at Aston Villa.
Hughton said: “I think it was convincing. Probably the only disappointment was we could have made it more comfortable.
“At 1-0 they still had a chance to get back in the game.
“You could see why they are side who have done well but I thought we had good control of the game.”
Murray scored after a sweeping counter attack in only the 12th minute.
He added a 48th-minute header from Jiri Skalak’s free-kick, delivered with pace and precision from the left.
Gaetan Bong picked up his fifth yellow card of the season, ruling him out of the midweek trip to Ipswich.
