Johanna Konta rated her marathon victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova as one of the best of her career.
Konta, from Eastbourne, saw off the eighth seed 3-6 7-5 7-5 in three hours eight minutes to book her place in the last eight of the Olympics in Rio.
She will play Angelique Kerber - who beat Sam Stosur in straight sets - for a place in the semi-finals today.
Konta said: “It’s the longest match I’ve had recently. I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve been part of some spectacular matches in my career and hopefully there will be more to come. But that definitely ranks up there just because it’s my first Olympics.
“It was the first chance I had to really showcase such tennis in the biggest sporting event in the world so I feel pretty lucky and privileged that I get another chance tomorrow.
“Both of us had a lot of chances each way which is very normal for any tennis match.
"It’s just about fighting each point individually and not looking too far ahead or too far behind. If you keep it simple, that’s when you’ll see some of the best tennis.”
