ALBION are preparing for a clear-out of fringe members of the first team squad.
Rotherham’s interest in Jake Forster-Caskey could launch a series of moves, temporary or permanent, for players unlikely to feature in manager Chris Hughton’s plans.
The list includes Rohan Ince, Elvis Manu, Danny Holla and Chris O’Grady.
Forster-Caskey is reluctant to join Rotherham on a three-year deal but could end up there on loan.
Fellow midfielder Ince and Dutch striker Manu were loaned out last season, to Fulham and Huddersfield respectively, while Manu’s compatriot Holla hardly played and O’Grady spent the whole campaign with Nottingham Forest.
They could all have a role at Crawley tomorrow (3pm) as Albion launch their pre-season programme.
Boss Chris Hughton will give 45-minute run-outs to a squad missing David Stockdale, Connor Goldson and Jiri Skalak.
A toe problem sidelined Stockdale from the training camp in Tenerife, where Goldson picked up an injury.
The Crawley pipe-opener comes too soon for Skalak, who returned yesterday from extended leave granted for his involvement with the Czech Republic in the Euro finals in France.
Tomer Hemed will be involved amid reports in Israel linking the striker to a return home with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Albion have not been contacted by Maccabi.
Meanwhile, Andrew Crofts is set to be reunited at Charlton with his first Albion boss Russell Slade.
The experienced midfielder, released by the Seagulls at the end of last season, has been lined up by Slade’s Charlton after featuring in their opening two pre-season friendlies.
Slade brought Crofts to Albion in 2009. The former Wales international went on to make more than 100 starts for the club in two spells.
