Chris Hughton says it would be the biggest achievement of his 40-year career in football if Albion complete a Leicester-type revival and are promoted to the Premier League.
Hughton won domestic and European trophies with Spurs as a player and 53 caps with the Republic of Ireland.
As a manager he won the Championship with Newcastle, reached the play-offs with Birmingham and kept Norwich in the Premier League for a season.
Hughton, 57, has acknowledged taking Albion up would top the lot.
"Yes, probably," he said. "I have been fortunate in my career to have been involved for a long period of time. Yes I think it would be."
Albion finished 20th in the Championship last season, Hughton keeping them up after a disastrous start under Sami Hyypia.
Leicester nearly went down from the Premier league last season and are now on the brink of winning the title.
Hughton said: "I don't think there's one football person in the country that hasn't marvelled at what Leicester have done. It's extraordinary stuff, fairytale stuff, the sort that doesn't happen too often."
