Hastings United's hopes of finishing in the Ryman south play-offs are back in their own hands after their closest rivals Corinthian-Casuals were deducted points.
Sixth-placed United replaced Casuals in fifth place today after the Football Association upheld a decision by the League to deduct the points under Rule 6.9 for playing Dave Hodges in a 3-1 home win over Faversham Town on January 16 while he was still under suspension.
Hastings entertain Herne Bay tomorrow knowing a win will secure them fifth spot and the final play-off position.
They had previously needed a win and a slip up from Casuals, who play Three Bridges tomorrow and have dropped to seventh behind Faversham.
