The Sussex referee who collapsed during a Ryman League game has been given a clean bill of health.
John Pike was stretchered off during Hastings 3-3 draw at home to Corinthian-Casuals and taken to hospital.
But United assistant manager Danny Bloor contacted him today and was told he had passed medical tests.
Bloor said: “It was quite upsetting to see. I used to play with John on Sundays and I’ve known him for a long time.
“He felt dizzy but the medical people at Hastings did really well.
“I spoke to John this morning at Hastings hospital and he is okay.”
United players Jack Walder and Ollie Rowe, who have medical training, saw Pike, from Hurstpierpoint, was looking wobbly as play stopped after a goal and called for help.
Hastings’ club photographer Joe Knight captured the drama as the match was held up for 25 minutes while concerned players, officials and supporters looked on.
Ryman League chairman Nick Robinson, who was watching the game, took over on the line as the senior assistant went out into the middle.
