NICK WEBB has vowed to keep knocking out the quickfire wins in 2016 now he is a free agent.
The heavyweight has split from Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions by mutual consent after a frustrating 2015 which saw him rattle up three victories.
Hove-based Webb wants to be more active this year and impress when he fights on February 12 at the Metropole Hotel, Brighton, on trainer and manager Scott Welch’s show.
Webb, 28, said: “I am going to stay a free agent for a while to rack up the fights.
“It will mean we can go on anyone’s show and even fight abroad. I want to get to 8-0 or 10-0 and maybe get in the mix.
“We’re maybe also looking at the Sauerland brothers (London, Berlin and Hamburg based international promoters).
“They may come to my next fight and have a look at me.
“They are big in Germany and have recently signed Dereck Chisora (in November) and they could be an option for us.”
Webb knocked out Hrvoje Kisicek in 56 seconds on his professional debut.
British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua had to wait until 1 minute 38 seconds of the second round when he beat the same opponent in November 2013. Webb then defeated Martin Szatmari after 1.57mins of his second pro fight and Ferenc Zsalek lasted just 1.19mins of his third.
But that win in October was his last fight despite a deal for six with Warren and that has led to the parting of the ways.
Webb is now eager to make up for lost time and is vowing not to hang around.
He said: “They were quick wins and that’s how I am going to keep it rolling.
“We were laughing because I have had three fights and not done a full round yet.
“I would like to get up there and be tested but if they can’t test me and keep going over then that’s easier for me than winning a brawl.”
Webb, who trains in the Brighton and Hove gym, has kept fit over Christmas for his fight in five weeks.
He said: “We have ran every day and ran on Christmas day, so we have not had a break.
“But we need to get the sparring in and will be doing a lot more now by moving around.
“I’ve been sparring Chisora too.”
Webb added: “I want to be a lot busier and I should get in the top ten as I am 14th in the British rankings now.
“After that I would like to fight for a title by around July – for a Southern Counties or something like that.
“It’s an exciting time for boxing in England with so many fighters having world titles.”
