Chris Hughton has hinted at action in the loan market to help Albion’s assault on the Championship.
But he insists his summer activity is not over yet.
Jamie Murphy, the winger signed from Sheffield United on Friday, will be part of the squad at Huddersfield tonight.
Hughton believes he is yet to replace all the talent which departed at the end of last season and is pleased to have loan options available if required.
He told The Argus: “At this moment we are working very hard (on recruitment).
“We are fortunate we don’t have too many injuries but we certainly want to have a squad that’s able to compete come September 2.
“But we are also concious that, at this moment, we don’t have a loan player. I was very keen to bring in as many permanent players as possible so there is always that available to us as well.”
Albion had three loan players by the time the summer window for more permanent transfers closed last season.
Summer business could still include the departure of Lewis Dunk but Hughton plans to name him in his 18 tonight and says he will treat transfer speculation as a compliment.
Hughton said: “I think we’ve always said any speculation or interest in any of our players is perhaps a bit of a compliment for what we are trying to achieve here but also for the lad.
“He is a good player, a player we would like here and he is very, very committed.”
