Mark Waddington, the Blackpool prospect Albion tried to buy, has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old midfielder fractured a metatarsal in training on Friday with the Championship's bottom club and has been fitted with a protective boot.
Boss Lee Clark told Blackpool's official website: "I'm frustrated for Mark, he's broken a bone in his foot and he'll be out for the rest of the season. He'll probably have to get it pinned."
The Argus revealed a fortnight ago on transfer deadline day that Albion made two offers for Waddington and were prepared to pay in the region of £100,000 to secure his services.
Waddington has made five appearances in Blackpool's first team this season.
