David Stockdale has revealed he apologised to team mates after Albion went 1-0 down today.
But he felt the Seagulls were well worth the 2-2 draw they eventually grabbed at the death as he charged into the Charlton goalmouth at a corner.
Stockdale told colleagues he was slightly wrong-footed when Igor Vetokele scored his first goal.
He revealed he was unsighted so took a step to his left anticipating a shot and could then not get back quickly enough to his right.
The Albion keeper said: “I said sorry to the lads and the management but they said it wasn’t my fault.
“The pleasing thing is we kept fighting until the end, we played until the end.”
Stockdale said Vetokele’s second goal was not as cleanly struck as the first but the ball bounced up off the ground and over the keeper's leg before it went in off the post.
He said: “We were comfortable for most of the game but they caught us on the break twice.”
