Former Albion back-up keeper Peter Brezovan is training with Oxford United with a view to a short-term deal as the Seagulls' hunt for a new No. 1 continues.
The giant 34-year-old Slovakian has teamed up with United at Bisham Abbey for their pre-season preparations.
Their first choice Ryan Clarke is out until the winter following foot surgery and Brezovan could be signed as cover for Max Crocombe.
Oxford manager Michael Appleton said: "Peter's out of contract and we'll monitor him over the next couple of days.
"We've only got Max at the minute, so we certainly need one. We don't need one beyond the new year because Clarkey will be back. He's one of three or four options."
Brezovan, released in May, made 62 appearances in four-and-a-half seasons with Albion.
Meanwhile, midfielder Keith Andrews, loaned by Albion from Bolton Wanderers last season, is on course to join Championship rivals Watford on the same basis.
Albion visit Watford on October 4.
