Dale Stephens has been ruled out of Albion's visit to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night by illness.
The midfielder has been struck down by a similar virus to the one which sidelined Matt Upson from the Seagulls' last away game at Bolton.
Stephens, signed in January from Charlton, was relegated to the bench by Keith Andrews for Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Ipswich.
Will Hoskins has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from more than a year out with serious knee damage.
The striker is not involved for the development team against QPR at the Amex tonight due to tightness in the back of his leg.
Boss Oscar Garcia said: "Yesterday in training he had some problems. He went to the physio. He has to rest for a few days."
Andrea Orlandi (thigh) has yet to resume training with the rest of the first team squad and out-of-favour midfielder Kemy Agustien is also on the injured list.
