Eastbourne boss Trevor Geer reckons his riders are coming into form for the new season.

Tapes go up at Arlington for the Joonas Kylmakorpi Testimonial tomorrow (7.30pm) and league action starts exactly a week later against Birmingham.

But Eagles riders have already been out and about getting meetings to supplement practice time at their home track.

Kim Nilsson misses the start of the season due to back and neck injuries.

But the other six team members have all been at Arlington for testing.

Timo Lahti is expected to join them tomorrow ahead of the likely announcement that he will stand-in for Nilsson during the opening weeks of the season.

The quintet all go in Kylmakorpi’s big meeting which also involves GP stars Chris Harris, Freddie Lindgren, Hans Andersen and Troy Batchelor.

Geer said: “All our riders have had plenty of track time and they have been going well.

“Saturday will be about blowing the cobwebs away at home and getting in a meeting before the league season.

“It will also be good for the whole team to get together.”

Lahti showed he is ready for an Eagles call-up by scoring 8 (4) for Ostrow against powerful Zielona Gora in Poland.

Bjarne Pedersen had 10 (5) for Gniezno in a friendly defeat by Leszno, for whom Mikkel Michelsen was unbeaten in his last three riders to finish 8+1 (4).

Pedersen beat world champion Tai Woffinden in the very first race of the English season.

That helped him notch 9 +1 (5) for Rest Of The World in the Ben Fund meeting at Leicester while Cameron Woodward had 7 (4).

Woodward followed that with 6 (4) in Mads Korneliussen’s testimonial at King’s Lynn, where he was outshone by Joonas Kylmakorpi’s clasy 10 (4).

Kylmakorpi beat Niels Kristian Iversen and Rory Schlein on their own track.
