Gordon Greer’s red card against Reading has been described as “a little bit unlucky”.
Former Albion striker and current BBC pundit Steve Claridge told TV viewers last night he had sympathy with the defender.
Greer was shown a second yellow card in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Reading after a foul on Adam Le Fondre.
The incident was examined on The Football League Show.
Claridge said the red card let Reading back into the game.
He added: “I think he (Greer) is a little bit unlucky.
“The obstruction comes about because he tries to make a challenge.
“He doesn’t step across without trying to go for the ball.
“As Le Fondre knocks the ball past him he is actually trying to make a challenge, probably with his wrong foot.”
