Boss John Gregory was left to rue a glut of missed opportunities as Crawley went down to a late goal at Gillingham.

Jamie Proctor and Billy Clarke were both guilty of missing gilt-edged chances in the second half at the Priestfield Stadium before Charlie Lee won it for Gills in the 88th minute.

Clarke and Proctor also wasted good opportunities in the first half while Joe Walsh headed against a post in the second half with Gregory claiming Reds could easily have won comfortably.

Gregory said: “I can’t be angry with my players because they totally dominated the game and had a number of clear-cut chances.

“We missed some gilt-edged opportunities which really should have gone in the back of the net. If we had taken those we would be talking about a three or four nil win but we didn’t and we were left to rue those missed opportunities as they had one chance and nicked the victory out of it.

“If you get opportunities in a game like that you have to take them as Gillingham were there for the taking today. I thought it was just a matter of time until we went ahead but the chances kept coming thick and fast and they just kept going begging.”
