If Albion are going to reach the play-offs again they need to overtake two of the teams currently above them.
They can ease ahead of one by beating Reading at the Amex on Saturday.
Of the current top six Nottingham Forest look the most vulnerable, more so than Wigan who were outplayed at the Amex but still won.
I expect Wigan to finish the season strongly now they have edged their way into a play-off spot.
Forest, meanwhile, are floundering. Last Saturday's 4-1 home drubbing by Wigan means they have taken only five points from the last 15.
They are ravaged by injuries and, to compound their problems, easy-to-loathe boss Billy Davies has just been handed a five-match touchline ban.
Albion are six points adrift of Forest with a game in hand and go to the City Ground on the last day.
QPR, who visit the Amex next Tuesday, are rocking as well but Forest offer the Seagulls their best hope of prolonging the season.
