Albion have given Jake Forster-Caskey a chance to shine - at his stepdad’s old home ground.
The midfielder comes into the Seagulls side at Reading as one of three changes to the starting XI.
Keith Andrews is recalled and Kazenga LuaLua gets a start as reward for his exciting contribution off the bench to the last game before the international break, against Millwall.
The three incomers replace Rohan Ince, Kemy Agustien and Will Buckley.
Forster-Caskey is stepson of Nicky Forster, who starred for both these clubs in his playing days.
The subs include Ashley Barnes, after a hip injury, but there is no place for Craig Conway, the winger signed on loan from Cardiff on Friday.
Former Albion loam star Wayne Bridge is on the bench for a Reading side who recall Russian international Pavel Pogrebnyak in attack.
Reading: McCarthy; Gunter, Pearce, Morrison, Kelly; Karacan, Guthrie, Williams; Drenthe, Le Fondre, Pogrebnyak. Subs: Federici, Bridge, Gorkss, Akpan, Robson-Kanu, McAnuff, Blackman.
Albion: Kuszczak; Calderon, Greer, Upson, Ward; Andrews, Forsater-Caskey, Crofts; David Lopez, LuaLua, Ulloa. Subs: Brezovan, El-Abd, Chicksen, Ince, Agustien, Buckley, Barnes.
