Albion No. 1 Tomasz Kuszczak has labelled the loss of Andrea Orlandi as a "big blow".
But he still believes the Seagulls can cope with their mounting injury crisis.
Orlandi is expected to be sidelined for two months following knee cartilage surgery.
Kuszczak said: "It's really a shame for Andrea. He thought he was going to be back, a couple of days or maybe a week or two.
"It's a big blow. This season has started really unluckily for us, with many players injured. It's not helping. I hope it's going to stop, but this is football. Things happen and you have to deal with it."
"I think we have still got a good squad and now we have to perform. Obviously, they are going to be back sooner or later and that will help give the team more strength and power."
