Wayne Bridge's reunion with Albion is in doubt.
The former England left-back could be missing from the Reading team to face the Seagulls at the Madesjski Stadium on Sunday (1.15pm).
Bridge was not involved in a 2-0 friendly defeat for the Royals at home to Oman on Saturday. It is unclear when he will be ready for a hectic spell of matches.
Reading also entertain Leeds, managed by their former chief Brian McDermott, three days after Albion's visit and then go to Derby three days later.
Boss Nigel Adkins, speaking to the Reading Chronicle about Bridge, said: "He's got a knee injury and is still in the rehabilitation process.
"We will assess it. We've got a Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday fixture list and there's no way we will risk him in all three games. We’ve got to monitor him very carefully."
Bridge signed for Reading in June following a successful season on loan to Albion from Manchester City.
