Gus Poyet's odds to become the next Everton manager have been cut from 9-1 to 6-1 by bookmakers.
The Albion boss is now fourth favourite to replace Manchester United-bound David Moyes at Goodison Park following last night's Championship play-off exit against arch-rivals Crystal Palace at The Amex.
Poyet, regularly linked in recent months with Premier League vacancies, indicated after the Seagulls' 2-0 defeat he will be seeking assurances from chairman Tony Bloom that the club's ambitions match his own.
Wigan's Roberto Martinez is the 5-2 market leader for the Everton-post ahead of the relegation-threatened FA Cup winners' must-win match at Arsenal tonight. Malky Mackay, who steered Cardiff to the Championship title, and Celtic's Neil Lennon have both had their odds slashed to 5-1 joint second favourites.
