Albion could discover tonight if they will face a showdown in the Championship play-offs against arch-rivals Crystal Palace.
Victory for Palace in their game in hand at relegation-threatened Millwall will guarantee the Seagulls meeting Ian Holloway’s side over two legs in the semi-finals on Friday May 10 (7.45pm) and Monday May 13 (7.45pm).
Albion would then need to win against virtually doomed Wolves at The Amex on Saturday (12.45pm) to secure fourth place and home advantage in the second leg, or hope Palace fail to beat Peterborough, another of the relegation candidates, at Selhurst Park.
A draw or defeat for Palace tonight would clinch second leg home advantage for Albion and leave the South Londoners fighting to finish fifth or sixth with Bolton, Nottingham Forest and Leicester.
Albion’s play-off schedule will change if they finish fourth and Forest fifth. Forest cannot play at home on May 10 due to a police request, as Nottingham rugby club have a play-off game the same night at nearby Meadow Lane.
Albion v Forest would be switched to a first leg at the City Ground on Thursday May 9 (7.45pm), with the second leg at The Amex on Sunday May 12 (12.30pm).
The Seagulls have confirmed that Scottish striker Stephen Dobbie, who moved to Palace on loan with a view to a permanent move at the end of the January transfer window, will not be eligible to play against them in the play-offs.
