From dazzling light displays, the chance to meet Father Christmas and even the wardrobe leading to Narnia, this season will be ever more magical with events at English Heritage locations.

With something for everyone, add in traditional carol services and wreath-making workshops, and all are destined to bring a sprinkling of Christmas joy.

With sites around the country, how can you celebrate Christmas with English Heritage? We’ve picked out some of the best!

Meet Father Christmas – taking time from his busy schedule, Father Christmas has planned a series of stops at special sites as he prepares for the big day! Children will love to gather around the Christmas tree as he shares a festive story and take home a special gift along with a memory to treasure.

Where? Dover Castle, Down House, Kenwood, Marble Hill, Audley End, Wrest Park.

Traditional wreath-making workshops – this is an activity which can be enjoyed in the run up to the festive season and will adorn your home too! Everything you need to create a wreath is provided…even some tasty winter warmers!

Where: Belsay Hall and Gardens; Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, Down House, Mount Grace Priory, Audley End House and Gardens, Wrest Park.

Immersive experiences – from the snowy magic of Narnia, illuminated light trails and interactive storytelling, these are events not to be missed!

Where: Narnia at Wrest Park – festive decorations, twinkling lights, and scenes from the beloved story. There is also an enchanting Narnia-themed trail in the gardens for families to enjoy and wintry fairground rides at weekends. Runs until December 31.

Where: The Spirit of Christmas at Eltham Palace – enjoy an hour-long immersive and theatrical journey through the stunning art-deco mansion where Father Christmas and some other delightful characters will leave you captivated by the magic! Selected weekends until December 22.

Where: Illuminated Battle Abbey – see the abbey in a whole new light with stunning lights, awe-inspiring effects all themed around 1066 and the epic Battle of Hastings. Christmas goodies and shopping all add to the experience. Runs between December 3 and December 8.

Christmas carols – the traditional sounds of those nostalgic tunes we love to hear, join in with English Heritage carol evenings which are taking place in stunning surroundings.

Where: Bolsover Castle, Audley End House and Gardens, Apsley House.

Christmas afternoon teas – food is of course at the top of the Christmas pleasures. Indulge in Christmas treats such as smoked salmon blinis, sandwiches and an assortment of sweet treats, all paired with a choice of tea, coffee or even Prosecco! Little ones can also enjoy the experience with their own menu…a perfect get together for the family!

Where: Wrest Park, Osborne, Kenwood House.
