This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby has shared the heartwarming letters her children have written to Queen Elizabeth II following her death.

The Queen passed away peacefully, aged 96, on Thursday according to a statement released by Buckingham Palace.

Her death brings an end to a 70-year reign, the longest in history, having ascended the throne following the death of her father, King George VI on 6 February 1952.

Following the news, the ITV presenter posted a rare Instagram of her children laying handmade tributes to Her Majesty.

The This Morning co-host reflected earlier this week on the daytime programme with Phillip Schofield about how she and her children had been coping with her death.

“I think that is why on Saturday I wanted to take the children down because I think you are trying to explain it to young people.

“You are almost trying to understand it yourself. I found it quite helpful as, as I was talking to them, it was helping it sink in for myself.”

The 41-year-old presenter shared the letter her children Harry, Belle and Chester penned for the late Queen on her social media.

Her eldest child Harry, 13, wrote: “Dear the Queen, what a journey it has been from a regular young Queen who only met 1 Prime Minister, to a national treasure who has met 15 Prime Minister and is the greatest Queen England has ever seen.

“Britain is so amazingly proud of your service for this country. And finally, I want to say thank you for football. Without you, I wouldn’t be playing for the team I am today. Long live the King.”

Her daughter Belle, 11, wrote: “To your Majesty, I hope you’re having an outstanding time in heaven with Philip and your mother and father.

“Me and my family are going to lay flowers for you at Buckingham Palace and go out for dinner for a treat!

“We will be thinking of you and missing you."

Meanwhile, her seven-year-old Chester wrote: “To your Majesty, thank you for being our Queen.”

Viewers flooded her comments section to express their support on Holly's parenting style and their adoration for the letters.
