Rail strikes affecting all of Britain are taking place from today (Tuesday, June 21) with further action to come on Wednesday, June 23 and Saturday, June 25.
Hundreds of thousands of people are being affected by this, especially those who would usually use trains to travel to work.
Many platforms have been left extremely quiet or completely deserted as approximately 80% of trains were cancelled.
However, is this rail strike also affecting the Eurostar service this week?
Is Eurostar affected by the rail strikes?
Last week Eurostar issued a statement on their Twitter to say they would be running a reduced timetable between June 21-25.
They posted: "Due to a national strike on the UK railway network, we will be running a reduced timetable between 21 and 25 June. To check if your train is cancelled and find out about your options, please visit: https://bddy.me/3MVAMyi".
Previously they had stated online that they were “not expecting the UK national strike to affect Eurostar trains.”
If your Eurostar train is cancelled you can:
- Exchange your booking for free for travel at a different time/date in the same travel class OR
- Cancel your booking and claim a Eurostar e-voucher valid for 12 months OR
- Cancel your booking and claim a refund of your ticket via your point of sale.
To check all your options with regards to exchanging a booking or claiming compensation visit the Eurostar website here.
