BEDE’s made home advantage count as they stormed into the semi final of the County Under-15 Lady Taverners competition with two big wins.
The school hosted the first round of the competition on Friday with teams from Moira House and Gildridge House taking part in a round robin tournament inside the Bede’s Sports Complex at Upper Dicker.
Bede’s played Moira house in the first round scoring 119-3 in their eight overs with Moira House making 51-4 in reply giving the hosts a victory by 68 runs.
In the second fixture, Moira House made 114 with Gildridge falling just short with 98 in reply.
In the last match, Gildridge House batted first and were restricted to 57-5 by some disciplined bowling and alert fielding from the hosts.
Bede’s passed the score having lost only three wickets and went on to make 122-3, winning the tournament and thus reaching the semi-final of the county competition for the second year running.
Neil Lenham, girls cricket coach at Bede’s said: “The bowling of Leilani Nesbeth and Daisy Bean was outstanding and also fine all-round performances from captain Ariana Dowse and Hope Ball with all players contributing throughout.
“It was another great team performance seeing us through to our second tournament win in two weeks, having recently beaten Brighton College and Eastbourne College in the Bede’s Under-15 Indoor Cricketing cup.
“The girls showed improving skills and disciplines and looked as though they thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
