More than 20 jobs could be up for grabs as fresh plans are revealed for a "next-generation" luxury car dealership.
The proposals are for a two-storey car dealership in Portslade, to replace existing Mercedes-Benz and Smart dealers in Victoria Road.
The building would feature 17 electric vehicle charging bays, along with solar panels to promote all-electric and low carbon driving.

Keith Caddick, operations director for Mercedes-Benz at dealership chain Lookers, said: "We are delighted to confirm our plans to invest in a new, next-generation retailer in Portslade, showcasing Mercedes-Benz and Smart with their innovative, sustainable range of luxury cars in a stunning, carbon-conscious building that accurately reflects our short, medium and long term sustainability ambitions."
The proposals will be put to Brighton and Hove City Council later this year by Lookers Plc, which own the dealerships currently on the site.
They include a large vehicle display area, lounge, workshop and cycle spaces among other amenities across 3,250 square metres.
The surroundings would be landscaped along with the construction, which has been developed alongside Northmill Associates.
The architecture firm is an industry leader in automotive dealerships and is responsible for projects up and down the country, such as the Nuneaton Car Showroom and Volvo in Stockport.
Lookers’ chief operating officer Duncan McPhee said: "Our focus and vision is to deliver an excellent customer service in contemporary and sustainable facilities that reflect our commitment and ambition to lead the industry.
"This significant investment in Portslade and in Mercedes-Benz and Smart will deliver a new, enhanced experience for all customers and staff in a superb, vibrant environment that will help to turbocharge the journey towards all-electric driving and a low carbon future."
Some 95 staff are employed by the retailer in Portslade, which is expected to increase to more than 115 if the plans are approved.
Lookers said the existing, fully staffed dealerships would remain open as usual while construction would be completed in phases.
