SPEAKERS have been announced for Brighton’s annual business conference.
The Brighton Summit brings together the city’s diverse business community for a day of speakers, workshops and networking.
It is taking place on Friday October 13 at The Clarendon Centre in New England Street from 8.30am until 6pm.
The theme is ‘embracing the unknown’ and reflects the uncertainty affecting businesses of all sizes and at all stages of their business journey.
Brighton Chamber, who stages the summit each year, has put together a series of workshops and speakers to help businesses think differently and to be agile.
Paul Hutchings from Refugee Support Europe will be speaking.
He tells his story of providing refugee aid in Greece and what he learnt in this most challenging of situations.
Having worked in the refugee camp in Calais, he realised that while essential aid was delivered effectively, it was often chaotic, undignified and unpopular with the local population.
In Greece his team was determined to do things differently.
His aim was to place the dignity of all refugees at the heart of their activities, look after volunteers’ welfare, co-operate with other agencies, and invest in the local economy.
Eileen Greene is also speaking at the summit.
Driven by a desire to channel her passions for environmental issues and a better world into a career, she joined Mooncup in early 2004.
As a founding team member she turned her hand to most of the things a small business needed to do.
She eventually settled into a role as international trade manager for which her modern languages degree and extensive travel experience across five continents came in handy. Today the Mooncup is available in more than 50 countries around the world.
Sophie Turton - a leading content manager and communications expert - will be leading a content workshop: called ‘The future of content is rooted in the past.’
Pete Jenkins - an international speaker, trainer and strategist - will lead a strategy workshop titled ‘Build your future brick by brick.’
Attendees will be invited to ease out of their comfort zone and the day includes an ‘Unknown Hour’.
There will be plenty of networking and fun as well as food throughout the day.
It is also a rare opportunity to hear from digital businesswoman Daisy Cresswell from London-based Liberty842 and author and economist Guy Standing.
Speakers also include a Brighton-based businessman who has set up an international charity and another who moved to an employee-ownership business model.
The practical workshops include those where you can re-visit your strategy and implement the latest in content marketing.
The Earlybird ticket sales end on June 30. Book your ticket at www.brightonsummit.com
Last year more than 350 people attended.
