Hundreds of pounds went to waste after vandals destroyed a newly replanted quiet garden in central Brighton.
Damage to the garden was the hot topic at the Friends of Queens Park AGM on Wednesday, October 3.
In July the garden was replanted thanks to £527 in donations from the community, Sussex Police and two pupils from St Luke's School who raised £50 towards the project.
Days after the work was completed vandals hit the heads off flowers, pulled up support polls and grass seeds.
Just seven of the 50 plants remain.
Sandra Magson who recently stepped down as friends chairman said: “We cannot justify spending any more money on new plants until we are certain that vandalism can be kept under control.”
Jonny Webb, the newly elected chaiman is considering the prospects of the commission of CCTV cameras, funds towards park wardens and new schemes to deter vandals who also persistently break into Queens Park Tennis Club.
Friends of Queens Park are pleased to welcome three newly elected members to the committee, Randy Belgrove, Susie Natta and Conrad Brunner.
