The three main local political parties have fielded strong candidates: the sitting party (Labour) named Chaun Wilson and she will defend an 800+ majority over the Conservative Party candidate 18 year old Joe Miller (student) and Green Party candidate Dr.Carlie Goldsmith (Kingston University lecturer on crime, living in North Laine) .
The Lib-Dems picked 20-year-old Sussex University student Dominic Felix Sokalski. The Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts candidate is Jon Redford, a veteran 25 year old trade unionist activist. UPIK selected Sabiha Choudhury, a Sussex University sociologist graduate and is now a freelance copywriter/copyeditor with a background in journalism.
With only 250 votes approx last year, these outsiders will only make a difference to the extent to which those votes are split. It is not known what odds the bookmakers are making.
