Tens of thousands of households are at risk of not having their say in the vote for the county’s first police chief.
The election for the Police and Crime Commissioner of Sussex will take place on November 15.
Over the last two months, households will have received an annual canvass voter registration form which must be returned to the local council by October 8.
Lewes District Council believes 8,988 households in its area alone have not returned their forms.
Those who are not registered will not be able to vote.
