Keith Pettit has been busy building a bonfire sculpture of Britannia ready for tonight’s beacon lighting ceremonies across the country.
The idea and design for the 40ft sculpture was led by designer and sculptor Mr Pettit from East Hoathly, near Uckfield.
On Monday, June 4 villagers will have a Chinese lantern parade to the site and light the sculpture that was made entirely from waste wood.
The Britannia bean will form part of the chain of beacons being lit across Sussex and the country to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
He has also created a blog where he describes his progress of building the sculpture.
