A power cut is affecting dozens of homes and businesses in Rottingdean.
The problem was traced to a fault in an underground electricity cable in the High Street.
Electricity was lost at around 11.15am and engineers are working to restore power as soon as possible.
Traffic lights in the High Street were also affected, which has caused delays and disruption for drivers.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “Engineers were on site shortly afterwards and are working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore supplies.
“This has involved digging out the faulty equipment and replacing it.
“We appreciate how difficult it can to lose power, especially during a bank holiday weekend, and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
