A man was rescued from a fire in his ground floor flat today after a concerned neighbour heard his smoke alarm go off.
The neighbour at Moore Court in Granary Way, Horsham, called 999 at around 1.40pm.
Horsham fireifighters found the flat smoke logged and a small fire in the kitchen after they forced their way in through the front door.
A team of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the flat and found the occupier in a deep sleep on a settee in the lounge and unaware of the danger he was in.
They brought him outside and handed him over to colleagues who gave him oxygen.
The man, believed to be in his 40's, suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by paramedics but did not go to hospital.
