AS FOR the hostile clergy of the Church of England who are against the ordination of women into the priesthood and the ordaining of them as bishops, I wonder what they would do if women refused to attend church services?

The Church would fold up – it’s struggling to survive now.

In my experience, it’s mainly women who carry out the church cleaning, flower arranging and the baking of cakes and other goodies for church bazaars.

In other professions, those in charge would be dragged before the courts with such an attitude.

It was women who kept this country going throughout the Second World War while the men were away fighting and most children were evacuated.

Women faced bombing day and night; parts of the East End had it for 76 days nonstop.

They never grumbled and got on with life very cheerfully. Many worked in ammunition factories – if those had been bombed these women would have been blown to bits.

So, wakey wakey, you grumpy old men.

Or are you afraid they will make a better job of it than some of you?

Don’t use ancient laws to your advantage; we now have female fighter pilots and women at the helm of Royal Navy ships.

Neither sex can make do without the other.
