The University of Sussex Students' Union has been nominated for an award.
It has been shortlisted in the Higher Education Students' Union of the Year category at the NUS awards.
The university faces competition from Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and Exeter for the award which will presented to the winner on July 4.
The Students' Union at Sussex has also received a special commendation in the Endsleigh Technology Innovation Award category for its iPhone application, which was designed by a student volunteer, and for its email newsletter especially designed for freshers.
The NUS awards highlight achievements of Students' Unions, its staff and officers, as well as individual students from across the country.
David Clichon, president of Sussex Students' Union, said: “We're extremely proud to be shortlisted for this award. We have a great student community here at Sussex and it is great that everyone's hard work has been recognised.”
