A blueprint guiding development in Brighton and Hove for the next 20 years is out for consultation.

Brighton and Hove Council is urging as many people as possible to comment on the City Plan before it is debated and agreed by councillors at the end of this year.

Deputy council leader Phelim MacCafferty said: “The City Plan will be an important tool for attracting and directing investment in Brighton and Hove.

“It will provide a way of delivering much-needed affordable housing and will encourage the most sustainable forms of development.

“This is a genuine opportunity to take part in the debate about the city’s future.”

Among the more controversial plans is to set aside Toad’s Hole Valley in Hove for a community including 700 homes, a new secondary school, offices, community facilities and open space.

It also currently aims to provide 11,300 new properties by 2030.

New England House has been identified as the base for a creative and digital media hub while the local authority also suggests providing a replacement leisure centre and 400 homes at the King Alfred in Hove.

Completed response forms and all other comments must be received by July 20.
