I WOULD like to express my opinion on farmers shooting dogs to protect their animals (The Argus, May 21).
I have been walking my dog for the past two years. It has a very keen interest in sheep.
As a responsible dog owner, as soon as I’m aware sheep are grazing on nearby land I put my dog on its lead.
This is easy enough when responsible farmers have notices warning dog walkers that sheep are grazing.
However, I have also experienced walking in areas with other dogwalkers where there are no signs or warnings.
In these cases, I have just been able to hold my dog back before something happens.
I therefore feel it is important we have responsible dog walkers, and responsible farmers, in order to protect animals.
