Police are appealing for information after a man was beaten around the head with a blunt instrument.
A 31-year-old man from Brighton suffered from head injuries after the assualt on Tongdean Lane, Withdean, Brighton, at around 8.35am on Sunday (May 27).
A 33 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been bailed until August 8 pending further enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Helen Paine of Brighton and Hove CID said: "It appears that the victim knew his attacker and the pair had a verbal altercation prior to the incident in Tongdean Lane.
"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about how it started."
