An unexploded bomb was discovered on a work site on Hove seafront.
The incendiary device, thought to originate from the Second World War, was found by workmen at 9.30am today at the Coach House in King’s Esplanade, Hove.
Sussex Police called to the site and a small number of residents were evacuated to the King Alfred Centre.
A Royal Navy Bomb Disposal team were sent to the area where they removed the cylinder – an unexploded ordnance.
Officials said it was a German incendiary device and did not have a detonator.
