Missing man Percy has been found – well part of him anyway.
Eagle-eyed Argus employee Lyle Acott spotted the severed head of the stylish dandy at the side of the A27 north of Alfriston.
She said: “I saw the top hat through the long grass and thought it was a bit odd. It was only because I had read about it in The Argus that I knew it was Percy.”
The ten-foot regency gentleman went missing from underneath the arches on Madeira Drive after the Children’s Parade organised by Same Sky on May 5.
Readers have reported a number of sightings over the last 18 days but it was feared he had become a victim of the rain.
John Varah, from Same Sky, said: “We were all extremely surprised when you called up. Especially as it was just the head – it’s like something from a horror movie.
“We’ve returned the head to the artist and hope to find the rest soon.”
