HERE in the US, there has been much excitement about converting to electric transportation.
I have fond memories of Brighton, but now live in Santa Cruz, a beach town like Brighton but smaller.
As a boy in the 1950s, I remember riding beautifully made doubledecker electric trams, in total silence, all over Brighton.
Likewise, electric garbage trucks travelled in silence at night.
They disappeared – I always wondered why.
Brits certainly had the lead. What happened to your electric vehicles?
