A man arrested after two dogs savaged a man on Brighton beach has been released on bail.
The man, in his 40s, was arrested after the attack by a Staffordshire bull terrier and a mastiff on the sea shore east of Palace Pier on Friday morning.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was bitten all over his body.
The dogs continued to maul him after he passed out among the breakers.
He described as being in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital this morning.
Detectives are now waiting for his condition to improve so they can interview him about what happened.
This morning police managed to trace a man who they believed had seen the start of the attack.
The two dogs are being held in a police pound.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, possessing a blade and possessing class A drugs.
