Pupils at the Longhill School, Rottingdean, brought in cakes last week to sell as part of the national Red Cross Charity week.
Sales from the selection of home-made cakes alone raised over £50 for the charity last Friday morning.
In total Brighton and Hove raised nearly £900 over the week through street collections, first aid demos, collection pots and many other fundraising activities.
Senior Community Fundraiser for Sussex Claire Umney said: “Our volunteers have worked tirelessly across the whole of Sussex to try and raise our target of £1 million across the UK. I would like to thank everyone who has supported.”
