Police are still looking for a man wanted in connection with a brutal assault on a have-a-go hero.

The 52-year-old victim was released from Eastbourne District General Hospital on Tuesday (May 15) after his face and neck were slashed with a blade when he intervened in a fight outside a pub.

A man police want to talk to in connection with the incident in High Street, Hailsham, on Sunday, May 13, is still at large and police have still not recovered the weapon used in the incident.

The man police want to talk to is Lucas Lamb, 29, of Hailsham.

He is white, 5ft 8in, of medium build, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt.

Detective Inspector Ian Williams said: “The victim of this vicious assault suffered injuries that will leave him scarred for life.

“It is important that we speak to Mr Lamb and I would ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to let us know immediately or for him to hand himself in to police.”

The driver of a BMW seen in the area at the time of the incident has now been identified and has been ruled out of the enquiry.

On Monday evening (May 14), a 27-year-old man from Heathfield was arrested on suspicion of ABH in connection with an assault on another man during the initial confrontation outside the pub. He was questioned and bailed until June 9.

If you know where Lucas Lamb is, call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Paston.
