Last week’s damp weather wasn’t enough to put off the 36 runners who took part in Brighton’s second Barefoot Run in Stanmer Park.
The event, organized to raise awareness for barefoot running, urges participants to go back to nature.
Trainers are strictly forbidden but minimalist footwear (thin soled, flexible shoes) and bare feet are greatly encouraged.
Event organizer Martyn Candler said: “Brighton Barefoot was a huge success. Cold, wet and loved by all.”
After a warm-up, many runners took part in the 1km fun run over flat ground.
The main event was held over a hilly 5 km course taking in both grass and woodland. The recent rainfall meant runners were faced with boggy conditions, where the going was very slippery underfoot.
After crossing the finish line, all the runners received goodie bags. Donations from the day went to the Fire Fighters Charity.
