Celia Davies, the guest curator of House Festival 2012, seems sadly misguided in saying we, the public, have to see the Bartholmew Square skip to “appreciate it” (The Argus, May 11).
As already stated, I’ve seen the skip installation and found nothing whatsoever in it to appreciate.
And as for the neon lights reflecting in puddles, streetlights do the same thing, and cost far less to admire.
I wonder, would she be so enthusiastic to spend “up to £10,000” of her own money and have the installation in her own front garden for us all to admire and appreciate?
The footfall in Bartholomew Square isn’t excessive, so why has such a large sum of money been spent on something which is, for the most part, hidden away out of sight?
On reflection, I’m glad it is hidden away. Can you imagine if it had been stuck in the middle of Churchill Square?
