I WRITE in reply to the letter from Anne Powell (The Argus, May 10) regarding the Children’s Parade and its “repetitive, tuneless, monotonous music”.
The parade takes place once a year, lasts for about two hours and is enjoyed by hundreds of children, their parents and families, teachers and friends.
A lot of hard work is put into the organisation of this parade for children.
The “tuneless, monotonous noise” they make is acceptable and enjoyed by most people as it is a fun event.
They are children, enjoying themselves for a short time; they are not junior members of a Philharmonic orchestra.
I suggest she should be grateful she can hear the noise, however tuneless – a lot of people can’t, but would probably like to.
