A hospital boss has added his voice to the hunt for missing pensioner Nellie Herriott.

Duncan Selbie, chief executive of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, highlighted her story in his weekly message to staff.

Nellie, 96 from Brighton, has been missing since April 25.

She is under five feet tall and very thin and frail looking.

She is also extremely hard of hearing, suffering from dementia and one of the lenses is missing from her glasses.

Police are continuing the hunt for Nellie but despite numerous calls from members of the public who think they may have seen her, none have been correct.

Mr Selbie said: “In many ways she sounds so very vulnerable and yet she also has the wherewithal and stamina to regularly travel all over Sussex by bus.

“I sincerely hope Nellie is found safe and well very soon.

“It would be easy to jump to the assumption that ‘someone’ should have been taking better care of her but for many older people, striking the balance between keeping them safe and well, and letting them continue to be the person they have always been, is not so straightforward.”
